Let’s get introductions out of the way

So, a long time ago I was…… HAHA Nah that’s not how we’re going to do this. I am Tegan Scroggs, pronounced T-egg-an, like Megan with a T. Sorry not many people can pronounce my name so it’s easier to get it out of the way. A name a large part of a person’s identity making it incredibly important to get correct.
Non-Artist Life:
When I’m not creating, I am normally with family, my animals or at school teaching. I’ve been married for 20 years to a wonderful man whose supported all of my creative endeavors. We have 3 wonderful grown children, one in the workforce and two heading away to college this fall. I had been a special education teacher for the last 7 years, however, fall 2026 I took a job as a reading specialist. Who knows if this actually matters when it comes to making art or purchasing art from me but nonetheless it’s info about me as a human. My undergrad primarily focuses on elementary education even though it’s interdisciplinary studies. I have a master’s degree in applied behavior analysis, post bachelor teaching, and a reading specialist post master’s certificate and am currently working on my PhD in Educational Leadership. I have also earned an endorsement in Middle School Language Arts. If you cannot tell me already, I LOVE learning!!!! High school was difficult for me, however when I got to college, I learned how much I love learning new things, and yes, I keep going back to learning more things. Wanting to learn more shows up in my creative process. Most people speculate that I ‘m a gifted ADHD millennial which is SPOT ON. I have the bonus of being the only and youngest child since my half sister and I weren’t really raised together so I’m fiercely independent, and my father’s favorite son (just joking).
Untamed Mixed Media:
Truthfully, calling myself an artist is a struggle even though denying it would downplay my abilities. Maybe a better way to phrase it is I’m not a fine artist; I’m a mixed media artist with a lot of whimsy. The first few pieces I sold I needed I decided I wanted to go by something other than my name or have a business name. When I was asked about making a few specific pieces of art I also decided I needed something to go by. My oldest and I wrote down words that had to do with my artwork. We put them into categories and started trying out different combinations. He suggested that Mixed Media would be important so that everyone knew I made mixed media artwork. I ended up using a Thesaurus to land on something that explained my art while being unique. I’m still figuring out what my niche and creative style are, so that’s a journey we’ll be doing together. In 2025 I registered for an LLC and did all the formal paperwork making Untamed Mixed Media an official business. I even started a website, developed a color scheme, and logo that would be identifying for my company. Then things got busy and, in the way, so here we are a year later getting ready to launch my online store. Insert ADHD--Yeah, I may have lost sight of my goals, and drive. Basically, I got in my way and talked myself out of trying. I can’t fail or be a failure if I never try right??? Here’s the thing I already sell my work through an amazing partnership with We Grow Shop VA however I decided that I need to take my own advice.
If you’ve read to here then, Welcome to Untamed Mixed Media where the art is rich with personality, full of emotions and story. It is also where you’ll find surprise exclusive one of a kind crafty drop as those happen.
